A NEW BEGINNING

Ecclesiastes 3:11

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

I am sitting this morning and watching the tops of the trees against the dark sky. Daylight is slow in coming as I wait, wait for the beginning of a new day. Not just any day, but November 15th… the opening day of Michigan’s firearm deer season.

Today I’m sitting in a deer stand anxiously waiting for daylight. This stand my dad made 22 years ago. 21 years ago Michigan Out Of Doors film my son, Nick shoot a buck from the stand and broadcast it. Maybe this opening day is my day. For now I’m with my grandson, Micah, looking out the window to the east, waiting for daylight. Today about a half million hunters await a new beginning in Michigan’s woods and fields.

I can see the trees a little clearer as the clouds obscure the sun, that is still tucked behind the eastern horizon… but it will come. Soon the hunters will see clearly and all of the blobs around them will make sense.

Today there will be hundreds if not thousands that will read this devotional as well as many others that have been recently written. Many of the readers still live in the shadows, in the darkness. I pray that they see the light that illuminates life.

John 8:12 tells us that Jesus Christ came to this earth to be a light of truth.

Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)

Like the breaking of dawn, the spreading of light by Jesus Christ makes everything clear. If you’ve been following my writings and you’ve never made the choice to follow Christ… it might sound cliché… but you honestly don’t know what you are missing. The light that Jesus Christ brings to life brings joy and peace. Even in the hardest of times and situations, a relationship with Jesus is a comfort like nothing else.

Romans 13:12

The night is almost gone, and the day is near. Therefore let’s rid ourselves of the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.

I know there are some reading that have survived cancer, heart attacks, car accidents and other near death experiences. It just shows there is no promise of tomorrow, no promise beyond this breath here on earth. If you haven’t chosen to follow Jesus Christ in life, don’t wait.

God has told the sinful world, in no uncertain terms, to repent.

“Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord” (Acts 3:19)

To repent means to change our minds from embracing sin and the rejection of Christ to rejecting sin and embracing Christ. Those who refuse to repent and turn to Christ in faith will suffer eternal consequences. Given the fact of hell, all people are in sin and in a dire situation. Why would anyone delay repentance? Yet many do.

If you’ve never turned from a past sinful life and chosen to follow Jesus… do it today.

2 Corinthians 6:2 says;

Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

Don’t put it off. Tomorrow might be too late. If you have questions, message me and I will help any way I can.

It’s light out now… I can see clearly. Can you?

Today is a NEW BEGINNING, today “is the day of salvation.” Don’t face another day without a relationship with Jesus Christ.

If you have that relationship.. Share the good news with others today… tomorrow might be too late.
