ARE YOU GOD'S CHOSEN?
Luke 2:8-9
"And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified."
Back in the day, when I first started deer hunting. There were no cell phones, there was no Facebook, Twitter or other social media to reach out to others to share the good news, if and when you got a deer. If I harvested a buck I would have to bring it to camp and hang it up and wait for others to get back to camp to see it. I would sit and wait for someone to share the good news with. Now, today, most of us are sharing this good news with people all over the world, via our phones and computers. Just this past week I harvested a buck in Indiana. Even before I left the stand, many people all over, heard the news. The texts and calls started with those closest to me and spread from there.
When something major happens in your life, who do you call to let them know?
When something wonderful happens to me, the first people I want to tell are those closest to me, those most important in my life. They have proven themselves trustworthy over time, and will rejoice with me. They've stood by me during difficult times, and will share in a victory with joy with me.
When God had the best news of the ages, who did He tell first? Important religious people? Wealthy folk? Highly educated men? Actually, no. God told shepherds.
Why didn't the angels go to the kings and religious leaders of the day? Why did they go to the shepherds, the lower society of the day? Later in life, Jesus did the same thing when He went to the fisherman first, they were the ones to spread the Gospel to the world.
Is God calling you out today to do something for Him? If you one of His children he would be calling on You... Do you feel unworthy? God has used those that have been looked at as unworthy... yet those are His chosen. When the lowly step out and spread the good news of Jesus Christ, people are ready to listen. When the "religious" leaders get on a soapbox, the world is less than impressed?
2 Peter 1:3
for His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.
God in His infinite wisdom chose just the right group of people to entrust the greatest news of eternity. Those humble men took the Good News of Jesus and did just what God wanted them to do... told others, and their lives were never the same.
If God is calling you to spread the news of the love of Christ? Understand that if God is calling you to serve, He will give you all the tools you need. The first missionaries to share the gospel were the lower of society's people of the day. Yet they helped change the world. Step out and share the good news of Jesus Christ.
