A GODLY PLAN
Isaiah 32:17-18
The fruit of that righteousness will be peace; its effect will be quietness and confidence forever.
18 My people will live in peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest.
It was the last afternoon of Joe's elk hunt and he was wanting to just go for a walk. We walked a long ridgetop for the last few hours of his first elk hunt. We hears elk bugle down in a few valleys a d each time we did I would ask Joe, "do you want to go after him"... to which Joe would answer, I'm ok, let's just keep walking." I've never seen an elk hunted, that hadn't filled his tag so content and relaxed.
At the end of the evening right at dark we heard 3 bulls bugling below us, right that end of the property we could hunt. I began calling to them and, right at the point of legal shooting light, I called a bull to less than 10 yards and Joe did fill his first elk tag... with no seconds to spare. That was over 30 years ago and it's still one of my best elk hunts ever.
I don't know about you but I don't see much peace, quietness and confidence anywhere in our world. Why not? Its because we've walked away from the righteousness from scripture above. The women of Jerusalem had become complacent, the people had become confident in their own plans and schemes and forgotten God's righteousness. Does this sound familiar? Are we there as a people? What's the future without a revival of our hearts?
Taylor, Hudson, an early missionary to China said – "If we could offer to the ungodly a worldly plan which would ensure their prospering in all that they undertake, how eagerly they would embrace it! And yet when GOD Himself reveals an effectual plan to His people how few avail themselves of it!."
This is so true, God's word has given us a plan for peace, quietness, confidence, to live in a secure and peaceful home. Yet, we choose human thinking and leave God behind.
Reconsider where you get your direction... God's already got the best plan. Sometimes we just need to quiet our hearts and instead of running after what we want... just take the time to listen.
