LEARNING TO GROW IN THE ROUGH SPOTS
Isaiah 58:11
And the LORD will continually guide you, and satisfy your desire in scorched places,
And give strength to your bones; and you will be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water whose waters do not fail.
A friend invited me to come with him to hunt a turkey with him many years ago. This turkey had given him fits all spring and at the time we were several weeks into the season. My old friend George had really had a rough time with him and I took it as a personal challenge.
We double teamed that gobbler and after some unusual tactics, we killed that sneaky old gobbler.
I've always enjoyed hunting a tough turkey. The tough hunts are where you learn more about hunting turkeys, its where a hunter grows.
The same is true of a Christian man or woman. It's the tough places in life that help us to grow as a man or woman of God. Anyone can cruise through the easy stuff in life, but when we hit a hard road, it's then that we turn the reins over to the Lord and watch Him work.
We really grow in those places when we allow God to lead in all situations, good or bad.
When God wants to grow a mighty oak, He doesn't do it overnight. It takes 100 years or more and it takes times of ease and times of drought. It grows stronger as it is battered by the rains and winds that come in the form of storms. You and I grow in the rough spots of life.
Isaiah 41:13: "For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, "Fear not, I am the one who helps you"
