Not my home...

Hebrews 13:14
For this world is not our home; we are looking forward to our city in heaven, which is yet to come.

The view was amazing.  The sun came up shining on the mountain across the valley from our tent camp.  It was the day before season so we were getting comfortable and relaxing.  Over the next 9 days we got very comfortable and we loved the tent camp.  At the end of that time we hated to come off the mountain...  however we knew we couldn't stay on the mountain and we had to head to our home.  When the truck turned east in Steamboat Springs, CO...  we couldn't wait to get home.

The writer, Malcolm Muggeridge, once said  "The only disaster that can befall us is to feel ourselves at home on this earth."

In our lives, as we go through the day to day grind we forget what this bible verse says.  We are not at home here.  If we know Christ personally, then we have no true home here.  We need to live as if we are always preparing to leave here and go to our eternal home.

Romans 12:2 makes this thought abundantly clear,
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:2)

I love the old song, "THIS WORLD IS NOT MY HOME".  The first verse and chorus go like this...

This world is not my home
I'm just a-passing through
My treasures are laid up
Somewhere beyond the blue
The angels beckon me
From heaven's open door
And I can't feel at home
In this world anymore

Some day soon we will all be leaving this world... life is short.  Where will you spend eternity?  Do you have a home in heaven?  Please be sure.
