PREPARE YOUR FIELDS
Jeremiah 29:11
I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, plans to bring about the future you hope for.
I enjoy the time that leads up to the fall hunting seasons. Starting around August 1st I begin to get the bug to get out on the properties that we hunt and get started with getting things ready. I got an early start this year and with the help of some great friends we got food plots worked and planted. The day we were planting I looked at the 2-week forecast and there was no rain predicted at all. I was a little discouraged, but we pressed on. If we waited my help would be gone and I didn’t see a time when we would get the plots planted. We had to trust that the Lord would provide.
Yesterday I went and checked two of the plots and because the Lord sent the rains, when they were not showing up on forecasts, the plots look good.
This reminds me of a story that I heard about two farmers who desperately needed rain for their crops. Both of them prayed for rain, but only one of them went out and prepared his fields to receive it. Which one do you think trusted God to send the rain? It was the one that prepared his fields for it.
Which one are you? God will send the rain when He's ready. You need to prepare your field to receive it. If we sit and hope, and even pray for God’s provision, but we don’t trust enough to prepare to receive it, are we really trusting that God will send it? This is true in farming, but it is also true in every aspect of our lives.
Jeremiah 32:17
Oh, Lord God! Behold, You Yourself have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and by Your outstretched arm! Nothing is too difficult for You.
Are you trusting today that God will supply all of your needs? Are you moving forward day to day knowing that God has a plan and that He will do all that is needed to get you where He wants you?
Pray for rain… but get out and prepare your fields. God is good, all the time!
