You Could be the answer to someone else’s prayers
1 Kings 19:11-13
The Lord said, "Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by."
Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. 12 After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. 13 When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave.
Then a voice said to him, "What are you doing here, Elijah?"
A friend of mine, Ron, is a retired game warden and he shared a story with me about how God once used him and he wasn't aware until the deed was done. It was actually the last day of Colorado's deer season and there weren't many deer to be found that year. Early in the morning Ron ran into a father with a young son, Jimmy, that were on their first deer hunt together. They asked for information on where they might find a buck and Ron gave them some ideas and off the father and son went.
For Ron it was an uneventful day until a call came in late in the day of a poached mule deer buck. By the time he covered the infraction and confiscated the buck, darkness had fallen. It was Ron's responsibility to find a place to donate the deer and he was dreading that task after a long day. While thinking about it, he noticed a familiar vehicle cross in front of him at a stop sign. This was the father and son he had seen earlier in the day. He pulled out behind them and lit up his lights. When he walked up to the door of the blazer the driver already had his driver's license in hand, not knowing what he had done to be pulled over. Ron asked if the hunters could use a deer.
The youngster could only stare at Ron with wide eyes. The father told Ron that they had been praying all day for a deer, but had seen few. At the end of the day, the son was asking his dad why God had not answered his prayers. The father was encouraging his son to not give up, and God always had a plan, and He always hears our prayers when we trust him. They had all but given up and were going back home empty-handed in the dark, when the red and blue lights put fear and questions in their minds...
"Dad was right, he said, keep praying, God always hears our prayers when we trust him", said Jimmy, with tears running down his cheeks. "And Thank you, too, sir."
When we are used by God to bless someone else, it is a beautiful and humbling experience. God uses us many times and we don't even know it. When we find out that we are being used it is thrilling. Sometimes He prompts us to serve without us even hearing. If we are in tune with Him, He will work through us.
The next time you feel God tugging on you to do something, don't hinder his calling. Answer the call, you might just be the answer to someone else's prayers.
Isaiah 55: 8-9
"For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways," declares the LORD. "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts than your thoughts.
