THE BLOOD TRAIL

1 Peter 1:18-19
knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.

I don't like to lose.  Does anyone like it?  When it comes to tracking deer, I HATE LOSING.  Over the last 30 years I can count on one hand the number of animals, that I think would succumb to the shot,  that weren't recovered... and one was too many.  I will spend days trying my best to recover a lost animal.

A few years ago my grandson, Micah, shot at a good buck and we found very little blood to trail.  The deer was heading into a thick wet swamp and we couldn't find anymore blood.  We searched hard, but couldn't find any sign. I had never don't it before, but it was time to call in the professionals.... I found a phone number for Victory Deer Recovery.  Chris and Meagan trained and use dogs to track and recover wounded deer.  These dogs can find the blood with their noses when we can't find it with our eyes.  After a very short time Chris with his little dog, Fe, found and recovered Micah's buck.

There is little doubt that the life of every human and other animals is in the blood.  If you end up in the hospital because of an emergency health issue, one of the first things they do is draw blood.  After most any major tragedy, a call goes out for people to donate blood... without it, people will die.

The blood the Christ shed on the cross also provided life to all those that accept His gift of life.  The "transfusion" of the blood of Christ means life to His children.  Without the trail of that blood we have no hope at all.

And when one of God's children is lost, Matthew 18:12-14 explains how much effort He will put in to find them and bring them back.  While we put forth a great effort to retrieve a lost deer, God put so much more to find us.

Matthew  18:12-24 "What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off?  And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off.  In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should be lost.

Follow the blood trail that Jesus left for us and we will be have eternal blessings of life.
