ALL OF A SUDDEN
2 Corinthians 6:2
for He says,
"At a favorable time I listened to you,
And on a day of salvation I helped you."
Behold, now is "a favorable time," behold, now is "a day of salvation"
As hunters and outdoorsmen and outdoorswomen we face a certain amount of danger every time we venture into the outdoors. While we generally don't look for danger, we seem to bump into it quite often and when we least expect it. Through all my travels I've heard of
How many stories of disaster lead up to... "And then all of a sudden"...?
I've often told the story of my friend Curtis who was on his way home after a successful hunt... "and all of a sudden"... On a back road, where there is very little traffic, he was hit head-on by a drunk driver and killed. Like Curtis, most of will die when we least expect it. Very few of us are going to know when the time has come for our life to end.
This is a sure sign to know that we need to be prepared to go at any time. There is no promise of tomorrow. No promise beyond this breath or this heartbeat.
If you've never trusted your life to God, never committed to following Him. If you've not made an acknowledgement of the fact that Jesus is God and that you believe that He came to earth, died for you and rose again, today is the day. Don't wait another day. You don't want your family to be telling the story, "and then, all of a sudden", without a beautiful hope. Don't put it off, an eternity without heaven is truly hell. Eternity with our Lord is heavenly!
If you do know the Lord, you need to be out sharing the salvation message with others. They have no guarantee of tomorrow either. They need to know Jesus today!
Don't allow your "all of a sudden" story be a sad one. I want mine to be a time of rejoicing because all will know that I am at home with my Lord and with my Christian family for all eternity!
