STANDING STRONG
Psalm 91:2
I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
A few years ago I hunted with a friend for deer on his leased property in Ohio. As we walked through the property we checked where he had placed a tree stand earlier in the fall. When we got there we found that the tree had blown over in a wind storm and his stand was now horizontal instead of vertical.
When he had hung the stand the tree looked perfectly healthy. It was a nice looking pine that had no appearance of weakness. Yet after it blew over you could see that it was rotten on the inside.
Jesus talked about this in Matthew 23:27. He was talking about the spiritual leaders of the day. Those that preached one thing but lived another. He said, "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people's bones and all uncleanness.
We need to carefully guard our hearts, making sure to align ourselves with Christ and Christ alone. There are false teachers and feel good leaders, preaching half truths and outright lies. There are also those that look pretty and healthy on the outside but inside they are like the scribes and Pharisees, "full of dead bones and unclean". Stay clear do not attach your life to these people.
Remain in Christ alone. Consider His Word against those that teach falsely. The storms will come in life and all will be tested. Those that are rotting on the inside won't stand, they will blow over under the pressure of the truth. What will stand is the real deal, the truth that is in Christ.
Strap your life to the Truth. When the storms come you will stand firm and safe.
