Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.
2024 has been an unusual year for crops and harvest. Early in the year we had great rain and moisture around much of the Midwest and crop growth took off… Them came late summer, the rains stopped and everything dried out… The corn and soy bean yields were a fraction of normal in the prairie states. Generally the harvest was down and earlier than I have ever seen for corn and beans before and many other crops as well.
I love to pick fall grapes from the local grape vines where I generally pick in early to mid October and they were gone. Most had fallen to the ground or the birds had eaten them. They had ripened two weeks early and I missed it. The grapes are my favorite fall food to gather and I am very sad that I only was able to pick a few to eat. To miss the harvest is not a good thing.
There is another harvest coming that we don't want to miss. We can see by God's word that the return of Jesus is near. He will "harvest" His church and bring them to their eternal home in heaven. Are you ready for harvest?
We see our nation and our world falling day by day now and I've quoted before that if we trust God and believe in Jesus and what He did on our behalf we can know that "our world is not falling apart, but rather it is falling in place."
No one knows when Christ will come back for His church, but we are called on to be ready. It could be today, tomorrow or 10 years from now. Whenever it happens He will take home those that have trusted Him and those left behind will go through terrible times of tribulation, like this world has never seen.
Matthew 24:36 says…
“But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.
