BLESSED
Psalm 23:1-4
The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters,. 3 He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for His name's sake. 4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
I was sitting in seat 31E and had been herded onto our overbooked plane like cattle. As always, the guy with the widest shoulders (me) was seated in the middle seat. I wasn't overly happy but decided there must be a reason.
I was on my way for a hunt and I was joyful and full of anticipation. Those around me seemed to be irritated and in a big hurry... even though there was no reason to be in a hurry.
Sitting down next to me was a middle aged lady of Middle Eastern descent. She was obviously very distraught, so I asked if I could help with anything at all. She explained that she had left her phone plugged into the wall in the terminal and forgot it there. All of her photos as well as all of her contacts etc. would be lost forever.
The more we talked the more relaxed she became and soon she admitted that she was blessed to be healthy and able to be in America (you see, she was from Lebanon) to see her children.
We talked about how God has blessed each of us and how lucky I am to live in a land like I do. I realized right then, I have nothing to complain about... God is good and sovereign.
How often do we fret and worry and get all worked up when there is nothing we can do to change the situation that we are in. We not only take away quality time from our own lives, often we take quality time away from others that might need us at the time.
In Psalms 46:10 it says to, "Be still and know that I am God ". That's hard to grasp when you're going through a hard time... but when we practice that in our lives... believing that we are truly blessed, then we know that we can rest on Him. His love is sufficient.
We are BLESSED. Sit back and enjoy. Thank God.
