When I Consider the Cross
Hebrews 12:2
looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
Why is Good Friday good? Because it was the day Jesus paid the price for the sins of the world, creating a way for mankind to be made right with God.
Thank you, Jesus, for the cross. Thank you for the price you paid. And then three days later proved who you were who You said You were and showed us that we to can be raised.
Way back in 1707 one of the most beautiful hymns ever written was penned by Isaac Watts in England.
“When I Survey The Wondrous Cross”
"When I survey the wondrous cross
on which the Prince of glory died,
my richest gain I count but loss,
and pour contempt on all my pride.
Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast
save in the death of Christ, my God!
All the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them through his blood.
See, from his head, his hands, his feet,
sorrow and love flow mingled down.
Did e'er such love and sorrow meet,
or thorns compose so rich a crown?
Were the whole realm of nature mine,
that were a present far too small.
Love so amazing, so divine,
demands my soul, my life, my all."
What was so good about it? Jesus chose me over calling on 10,000 angels and a easy life in heaven. He loved me enough to die on my behalf and on your behalf. And He offered a gift that is so easy to accept.
It was better than a “good Friday”… It was a great Friday!
Thank you Jesus!!
