FOLLOW HIS FOOTSTEPS

Proverbs 22:6
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

This past week I got to spend a few days guiding turkey hunts for a great friend and his son Charlie.  Charlie is an energetic 2 year old.  While most kids his age are watching Barney and Bluey, Charlie has a fascination for hunting and fishing shows.  His dad and grandpa have told him about hunting since he was born.

Charlie takes his little toy compound bow, his small elk "decoy" and he goes out and sits in flower garden and with his mouth makes elk sounds.

Why does Charlie do these things?  Because he sees his father do them and he wants to be like him and do the things he does.  He has a desire to follow in his footsteps.  Charlie loves his daddy and his father loves him more than life itself.

Ephesians 5:1 tells us about how we are to follow our heavenly Father.
"Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children;" (Ephesians 5:1)

Are you following in your heavenly Father's footsteps?  Are you working hard to imitate the goodness and love that He shows to you each and every day?

Consider your Heavenly Father to be like the best dad you could imagine.  He wants to give you everything that is within His will for you.  All of your hopes and all of you dreams.

Isn't that who you would want to imitate.  And fathers, are you leading your sons and daughters in a relationship with Jesus Christ?  Please remember we have a responsibility...  our children will look to us for direction...  where are we leading them?

Follow His footsteps.
