FULLY TRUST HIM
Psalm 34:7-9
The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him, and rescues them. 8 O taste and see that the LORD is good; How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him! 9 O fear the LORD, you His saints; for to those who fear Him there is no want.
In the last 2 days I've heard of two bull moose who have been hit by cars in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The moose are at the peak of their breeding season and the bulls have no fear of anything. I've heard of bulls that actually attempted to stand against a train coming down the tracks. They have no fear whatsoever. That's the way I want to live my life for God... with no fear, fully trusting Him at every turn.
My brother sent me this story a few years ago and I wanted to share it. It talks of the protection from God, when we call on Him.
During World War II, a US marine was separated from his unit on a Pacific island. The fighting had been intense, and in the smoke and the crossfire he had lost touch with his comrades.
Alone in the jungle, he could hear enemy soldiers coming in his direction. Scrambling for cover, he found his way up a high ridge to several small caves in the rock. Quickly he crawled inside one of the caves. Although safe for the moment, he realized that once the enemy soldiers looking for him swept up the ridge, they would quickly search all the caves and he would be killed.
As he waited, he prayed, "Lord, if it be your will, please protect me. Whatever your will is though, I love you and trust you. Amen."
After praying, he lay quietly listening to the enemy begin to draw close. He thought, "Well, I guess the Lord isn't going to help me out of this one.." Then he saw a spider begin to build a web over the front of his cave. As he watched, listening to the enemy searching for him all the while, the spider layered strand after strand of web across the opening of the cave.
"Ha, he thought. "What I need is a brick wall and what the Lord has sent me is a spider web. God does have a sense of humor."
As the enemy drew closer he watched from the darkness of his hideout and could see them searching one cave after another. As they came to his, he got ready to make his last stand. To his amazement, however, after glancing in the direction of his cave, they moved on. Suddenly, he realized that with the spider web over the entrance, his cave looked as if no one had entered for quite a while. "Lord, forgive me," prayed the young man. "I had forgotten that in you a spider's web is stronger than a brick wall."
Isaiah 41:10-12 gives us a command and a promise. "Fear Not" and "I will uphold you"
”Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. 11 Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish. 12 Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought.“ (Isaiah 41:10-12)
A friend read this story a few years back. Then he told me the story of his father in WWII. He was captured by nazi soldiers, along with two others. They were stood before a firing squad. He prayed for God's protection. Just before the soldiers pulled the trigger an officer stepped up and stopped the firing squad.
The officer's uniform was covered in shiny metals. Officers would never wear their metals in the field as it made them a top target. My friend wonders, "could it have been an angel?
Do we believe that the God that created everything loves us? Then why do we fear anything? He has promised to care for us. Trust Him.
