GOD STILL SPEAKS
2 Timothy 3:16
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
Dave had a hunter out on his first morning of elk hunting on Purgatory Ridge and got in a good bull right away. I got a radio call asking me to meet him back at the top. I got there and waited two hours and Dave and his hunter never arrived. I called again and again on the radio with no answer. After waiting I drove the 6 or 8 miles to the bottom of the ridge and waited. I called with no answer.
Finally mid-afternoon I met the two of them along the jeep trail on the bottom of the mountain. I asked them why they didn't respond to the radio call. Dave said that they didn't hear my call and even though they called me over and over again, I couldn't hear them.
Often in day to day life we get busy and we forget to keep our connection with God. We sometimes feel like God has quit speaking to us. Sermons are losing their impact, times of genuine worship in life are growing more rare, and overall, you're just living out your life no longer looking for new revelation? We all go through times in life in which we feel disconnected from God and alone. If you feel this way, consider deeper study of your Bible. The Bible was given to many men by God's inspiration. He spoke directly to and through these men. He is still speaking this same way to people today.
It's when we quit looking for God's direction, deep within the pages of HIS word that we lose that direct contact with Him. However, the wonderful truth is that God hasn't moved and He is still speaking to us through the Bible. Remember; it's not just a book with worn-out phrases, rather, it's a treasure house of truth that's living and active. The Bible is a fountain of living water and is intended to be our prime source of strength. Pick it up, dust it off, and draw near to the God who speaks still.
Approach Scripture with the understanding that God still speaks to us every time we read His words
