"GOOD" FRIDAY?

1 Corinthians 15:3
For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,

Do you stop and ponder why today is called, "Good Friday"?  The thought of God's own Son being beaten, spit upon, mocked and then physically nailed to a cross... How can that be considered "good"?

The Crucifixion is just the beginning of the story that is not only good... But beautiful.  If Christ hadn't been killed by this method, fulfilling Old Testament prophecy, the resurrection would not have happened... And if Christ hadn't raised from the dead, we would have had no hope for an eternal life in heaven... But with His death and resurrection we have not only an earthly "hope" but a heavenly assurance.  Now that's good.

So as we start into this special weekend...  We can weep for what Christ had to go through, the pain and suffering... But also rejoice that he did it just for you and just for me.

1 Corinthians 15:54-58
When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory."
55 "Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?"
56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.  58 Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

He overcame the crucifixion and the grave to give us life!  Thank you Lord!
