DARK DAYS
Romans 5:6-10
For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.7 For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him. 10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.
The 2 full days between Christ's death and resurrection were dark dark days for His followers. He had told them that He would rise again, Matthew 16:21. Somehow they didn't grasp it. The pain and questions that they all must have had; "How could this have happened?" "Was He really the Messiah?" "Now what do we do?". DARKNESS!...
These 5 verses above tell the entire Good Friday - Easter Sunday story.
Vs 6 - "Christ died for the ungodly"
Vs 8 - "while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
Vs 10 - "we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life."
So like Christ's followers during His life on earth, we have days where we don't see Him at work... It doesn't mean that he is dead... He is alive and loving us. There are times we feel hopeless and helpless... He is our hope, He is our help. Today might be dark for you, but tomorrow, there will be amazing brightness... If we just believe that Christ rose from the grave and lives.
Christ died covered in our sins, so much so that His Father had to turn His face away... but He rose again on the third morning to fulfill all of the old testament prophecies... But more so to give us our assurance that not only did He have life again, but so will we have life.
