HEALING WOUNDS

Matthew 7:12
So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

The last few days we've had temperatures quite a bit above freezing all day, top that off with a lot of rain and it makes for very sloppy conditions.

I've been out doing some work around some deer stands and I've  been walking in mud and slush with every step. Its calling for temperatures to drop over night and all of that slush and mud will all freeze back up.  When it freezes it will leave ragged and broken edges of each place where the mud and slush were stepped in and disturbed.  The only thing that will repair these damaged areas will be warmth.

It made me realize how many times in life we "walk on" the heart and feelings of another person.  We hurt them with words and actions and while at the time we might not notice it, that hurt leaves a jagged edged scar down deep in that person.

When this happens we need to go back and attempt to heal that scar.  Like the frozen slush, the only thing that is going to heal the scars on a person's heart is warmth.  Showing love, sincerely asking for forgiveness and giving the hurt over to God will heal the jagged wounds.  Even when healed there is always harder scar tissue left to deal with from the hurt.

Psalm 147:3 Tell us that with God's help the wounds can be healed.
3 "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds."

Although the wounds can be healed, we need to be careful as to not cause the hurt in the first place.  Many wounds last a lifetime.
