LEAVE YOUR MARK

Romans 1:16

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.

It's been a strange fall here. Deer movement has been very slow, and the sign for bucks has been minimal. But one day soon, there will be buck sign everywhere. For a deer hunter, these next few weeks are magical. 90% of the range of the country’s whitetail deer will erupt in pre-breeding and breeding activities. The breeding season will begin, and the bucks will be visible and active. Mature bucks can remain nocturnal and nearly invisible for 11 months out of the year, but this special time can have them up and moving in broad daylight.

Any day now, the bucks will be rubbing trees with their antlers and making ground scrapes. They are leaving visual markings everywhere, telling the other deer that they were there. They are also leaving their scent on these trees and in the dirt for all of the other deer to know who they are.

As Christians, we are called to "leave our mark" for others to see who we are. With the bucks, the other deer have no doubt that they were there and who they are; that should be the case with us as well.

There have been times, when I was younger, where people have said, "Oh, I had no idea that you were a Christian". To me, this is an embarrassing statement to hear. What kind of signs was I leaving if they didn't know who I truly was?

Romans 1:16 said, "I am not ashamed of the Gospel...". We should be proud of who we are and what we stand for. We should be leaving our mark everywhere, professing Jesus as our Savior. Each of us has different gifts, and not all are able to do it vocally or in writing... But we all need to make it known in any way we can.

In 1 Peter 3:15 we are told to be ready at all times to show who we are...

"But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect." (1 Peter 3:15)

How are you doing? Are you ready with an answer? Are you unashamed of what Christ did for you when He left Heaven and came here to die? And, are your beliefs visible to the others you come into contact with?

In Matthew 10:32 Jesus says this:

Everyone who acknowledges me before others, I will acknowledge before my heavenly Father. (Matthew 10:32)

Are we visibly and audibly acknowledging Jesus as our Savior? Does the world know who we trust in?
