PATIENTLY WAITING

Galatians 6:9
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up

I had a good friend that hunted a specific buck for 14 straight days before taking him.  That might not seem like a long time but this was before the regular use of trail cameras and he was convinced the buck was coming through a small creek bottom on his way to feed.  He sat and watched a small patch of swamp for thirteen straight days without seeing one single deer, nothing.  Then on the fourteenth day that one buck showed up and he harvested it.  The amazing thing was he was hunting in an area that had one of the highest concentration of deer in the entire Midwest.  It is almost impossible to sit for thirteen days anywhere in this county and not see one hundred or more deer in 13 days.  But he was dedicated to doing what he felt was needed to be successful.

In the Bible we read of many that waited on God to be successful...

Joseph was sold into slavery as a boy and ended up being thrown into prison for a long time for a crime that he never committed.  But Joseph never gave up hope and God raised him up into a great leader within Egypt and then to God's people.  He never gave up on serving God.

Job was one of the richest men of all time.  Within a day he lost nearly everything in his life.  While he didn't know why, he waited on God and God provided even more for Job than he had had before.  He didn't know what it was, but he knew God had a reason.

God made a promise to Abraham that he would be the father of many nations, with defendants greater in number than the stars in the heavens.  At the time he and Sarah were very old.  After having waited for many years, they finally were going to have a son together... and this was when Abraham was 100 years old.  Abraham isn't the best example of patience, But he is one of the best examples of trusting Gods plan in the Bible.  Abraham was willing to give up his only son at God's command.  God fulfilled His promise and made Abraham the father of God's own people.

Whatever the task is that God has called us to, we need to continue doing the work, even if we don't see the progress we would like to see. Even Jesus was still teaching His disciples until the moment of His death. Jesus is an example of patience for us.  He never gave up on His Father's plan for His life.

Patience is not just us waiting for something, its about how we wait, its about our attitude while waiting.  Trusting God that He will perfect in us His plans, no matter how long it takes... This is patience, that is trust in the Lord and His plans for our lives.

All too often people feel they don't see God working in their lives.  I believe that these people never give God the time to finish His work.  They pray for an outcome and then when it doesn't happen in their timing they move on to the next idea for their lives.  They rush through life from prayer request to prayer request for their lives, constantly changing their plans, without waiting fir God. They are missing the greatest blessings because they didn't wait for God to fulfill His promises.  Be patient and wait for God to bless you with the fulfillment of His promises.
