TEAM PLAYER'S

1 Corinthians 13:1-3

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.

A team is made up of many players, each player has a part in the success of the team. Even though some players might rarely get on the field, they are there for a reason and if they were missing, the part that they play would be missing.

This past week we had a friend pass away. This beautiful lady was small in stature and quiet, but she was a major part of the team in the ministry that we were involved with together. She was a leader that led by living out amazing service to others. She will be missed, but because the team has many others, someone will step up and move into a position to make things happen.

When we got news of our friend’s passing I didn’t know how we would be able to get to the funeral, but when the family asked if I could do the celebration service for her, it was my turn to step up… that’s what a team does, they do for each other even when things get tough.

Each of us plays an important part in the lives of others. Quite often we don't know how much others depend on our support in their lives.

God builds His team and puts the players in place. He wants us to be the best we can be, but not at the expense of others on the team.

NBA star Pistol Pete Maravich realized that without playing for the good of the team, life has little meaning. He once said,

"There is nothing wrong with dedication and goals, but if you focus on yourself, all the lights fade away and you become a fleeting moment in life."

In the 1980’s there was no better team in the NBA than the Chicago Bulls. They played selflessly most all the time and it showed. They were hard to beat because each player was playing their part. We should all play for each other that way,

Others need your support, be a team player.
