THIS SEASON NEVER ENDS

John 1:4-5
In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

It's the morning after Christmas and it's just breaking light outside.  I've got one more friend coming to hunt this week and then hunting season ends this in a little less than a week.  It's always sad when I wake up the morning after deer season ends.  Every year I realize that one of these seasons could be my last.  I feel like I have a lot of good years in me, Lord willing, but still we never know.

So today it's the morning after Christmas and hopefully you've spent the last couple of days celebrating Christmas, Jesus' birth.  But today, unlike deer season, brings us hope not discouragement.  For today is a new day with a new and everlasting hope.

Yesterday we celebrated Christ's birth and as John wrote, "The light of all mankind".  Today isn't a let down, why? Because that light never ends.  The darkness in this world, sin and evil, isn't going away.  However, "The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." (John 1:5)

So today, do not be discouraged because Christmas is over.  Be encouraged because it was just the beginning of a season of Jesus' light being shined into this world. Hunting season is coming to an end... but this season of Christ's love never ends.
