WITH THANKSGIVING
Philippians 4:6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
It was a long night, the evening before should have been a time of celebration but instead it was hours of worry and concern. Right at dark one my hunting partners had shot at an elk with his bow. There was no sign of a hit in the dark and then it rained all night. First thing in the morning we went out to search for the elk. Within a couple of minutes we found it. He had just run into a small valley and had expired quickly.
We had wasted an evening of what could have been fun and excitement, instead we were down and worried.
I have read and heard these verses above, dozens, if not hundreds of times in my life. Today something struck me differently.
"With thanksgiving"... In EVERY SITUATION. Its easy to be thankful when things are going your way, but how about when you are in the middle of a disaster? Remember God is ALWAYS in control. HE'S got you covered.
Acts 16:25 tells about what Paul was doing while in chains in prison... Right after being beaten...
"About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them." (Acts 16:25)
We have two options when we face major issues in our lives... We can worry, fret, complain and make it worse. OR we can praise God, knowing he is in control and we can be thankful.
