A GENTLE WORD
Proverbs 15:1
A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
The bull was just above me and almost in range of my archery gear. I just needed him to come another few feet. I had been practicing my elk calling all year in preparation for this hunt. I let out a loud bugle, because this is what I had practiced. The bull turned and walked away.
That elk hunt was over 30 years ago and I was very inexperienced in calling elk. Everyone was carrying an elk bugle and blowing it loud. I've long since learned that a gentle cow elk call can usually do far more than a loud bugle.
In many instances, what is true in nature is true in all of nature. What is true in elk hunting is very true in dealing with others in our own lives.
There's an old saying, "you can get more flies with honey than you can with vinegar". It's true, who wants to be around a sour or bitter person? Instead wouldn’t we want to be with someone that is sweet is a joy to be around.
Ephesians 4:2
"Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love."
This verse speaks volumes about the importance of gentleness in maintaining unity and peace within our relationships. It encourages us to embrace humility, patience and gentleness as we interact with others. Gentleness in our hearts leads to kindness in our actions, helping us to bear with one another during times of disagreement or misunderstanding.
There are many verses in God's word that speak of gentleness in dealing with others. Anything mentioned that many times is important. Being gentle and giving soft loving responses not only blesses those we are dealing with, but it blesses us as well.
Gentleness and meekness should never be confused with weakness. Gentleness is stronger control.
Practice a little more gentleness in your life.
