A NEW ROAD
Matthew 7:13-14
"Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.
A couple of weeks ago I was in lower Michigan helping with two different deer hunts. The first was a special needs youth hunt and the second was to serve our military heroes that had earned a purple heart medal. The property we were hunting was a couple square miles of rolling maple and oak ridges with a half dozen small fields with deer stands situated for hunting.
To get to the area we were hunting you had to pass through a narrow gate, then you drive through thick forest for 2 to 3 miles. There are roads splitting off the main road every few hundred yards and when you finally reach the place we were hunting, the road breaks out into a beautiful field where sometimes 20+ deer come out in the evening to feed.
The roads through the property are not easy to travel, mostly because or deep soft sands. After heavy rains the hillsides can feel impassable because of deep washouts. If you deer hunting, when you've made it to your destination, it was well worth it. You could stop anywhere along the way and just stay there or turn back... but if you stay where you are comfortable, you will never reach the places God has planned for you to experience. It's when we leave the easy roads, the comfortable roads in life, then continually move forward on the roads God has set us on that we live truly victorious lives for Him.
If God is opening a new road ahead of you, buckle up and get ready. The road will most likely be at times a hard ride... most of the victorious stories in the Bible were hard rides... but in the end God's awesome glory and splendor are revealed to us.
If you are heading down a new road, prepared by God now, know that He has gone before you. There is no fear in following the path He's laid out. Move forward in confidence, as the view when you get through the rough spots will have been worth the journey.
Psalms 23:1-4
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
