FOR THOU ART WITH ME...
Psalms 18:30
As for God, his way is perfect:
The Lord's word is flawless;
he shields all who take refuge in him.
As a boy that loved the woods, there were times that I would be out until dark and have to find my way back to camp. I was a great feeling as I would come within sight of the glow of gas lights through the windows and smell the smoke from the wood stove.
I've been to camps all over north America and I have had similar experiences of coming back to camp... but never has it been the same as when I knew that my father was there, stoking the wood stove and usually making dinner. It was dad that made that time special, safe and warm.
In the midst of David being pursued by Saul David knew that God was there near him, protecting him.
We quite often feel as though our whole world is caving in around us, friends have turned on us, no matter what we try fails. But we need to know that He is faithful to protect and provide for His children. We need to praise God in the hard times as well as the good times, in all things. We can know that He is there to make it special, safe and warm.
The most memorized chapter in the Bible is psalms 23... It's all about God's provision and protection... Read it now, with the mindset of God pulling us close to Himself, as protecting us as His children.
Psalm 23
1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
We have to realize that our safety does not always come from the distance we are from danger, it always comes from how close we stay to God. Allow Him to be our shield.
