TAKE A STAND
1 Peter 2:9
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
We had heard the bull bugle from a long way off and we had hustled to get to him. When he first heard him we were one ridge over and the sun was going down quickly. Now we were innthe creek bottom and he was on a ridge high above us that was called "Sky Line" and there was good reason for that. From below the top of the ridge was always what you saw as a "sky line" high above. As the last rays of light hit the top of the ridge he stepped out into view, let out one last bugle and stepped back into the timber.
That bull looked like the king of the mountain up there. Lit up as if a spot light was setting him apart from all others. It's a sight I will never forget.
That elk looked like royalty on that mountain. He was something apecial, set apart from the rest of the mountain inhabitants. If you have a personal relationship with Christ you have been called out as well... A "royal priesthood" Do you act like that? Can others see that in you? Do you show off your love for God through your life? Or is it hidden so well that there is no way to tell us from the rest of the world? Do you stand out and proclaim your love for your God... like that bull elk did on Sky Line?
We have no idea what impact we can have on others by one small action of proclaiming our God. Consider Tim Tebow... During the 2009 college championship game, he wore his "eye black" inscribed with John 3:16. During that game 92 million people used Google to look that verse up. That's 92 million people that all read a gospel message because one young man was bold enough to take a stand.
Israelmore Ayivor made a secular statement but it is true in the spiritual world as well. He said...
"Take a chance to standout. You can only have your head above water if you stick your neck out a bit. It's time to take off... Dare to rise!"
God is calling His people out. We are to be seen, to be heard, to stick your neck out, to stand up and stand out. Maybe you won't effect 92 million people... But if you effect just one, that is all you are called to do today... And one tomorrow and then the next day etc...
Take a stand!
